In the Hot Springs & more at Chena

$800 worth of gold shown to us by a young miner in the restaurant.

This young miner will be on a National Geographic program in January.

Carl in the outdoor Rock Lake at Chena Hot Springs. Yes, that's snow on the boulders behind him and frost in his hair. It was 30 degrees below zero outside that day.

Wearing my wool hat in the below zero weather while sitting in 105 degree water.

Sitting in the indoor hot tub after our Arctic plunge.

There's frost on my wool cap.

The camera lens was frosty after being in the pool. This is the Chena Hot Springs main lodge with the restaurant and registration desk.

 Same as above.

 Alaska state flag.
Decor in our Chena Hot Springs Resort hotel room.

This was right after breakfast about 9 a.m. and it's dark!

Carl has frost in his hair.

The moon is visible at about 10 a.m. when the sun starts to come up.

 This was our building #103.

The Activity Center. In the background is the power plant for geothermal energy.

Yes, the thermometer reads 8 degrees below zero.

 Feeding the horse a treat.
